This neckpiece was born of sadness, but helped its owner to find her smile. When the designer’s husband passed away, she decided that it was time to stop wearing her wedding rings. At the same time she loves her marquise diamond and the sentiment that goes with it. She decided to reset her diamonds into a new piece that was sure to make her smile when she wore it. In order to give the new piece a different feel, she decided on a pendant, rather than another ring. When we discussed the options, she knew that she wanted white gold, and that her treasured marquise was to be the focal point. We discussed the heart shapes that she liked, and when the initial sketch was completed, she loved it, but asked if we could add more diamonds! Of course! As one more sentimental step, we used a part of the shank from her original rings, and incorporated it into the back of the pendant. When the pendant was finished and she got to put it on, the incredible smile on her face said it all. In fact, she loves it so much, that at the time of this writing, she is considering designing some matching earrings.
